Carl Maston, residence
Maston Residence, Marmont Ave, L.A. Built 1947
MidCentArc has posted a group of photos of a spectacular mid-century house in Los Angeles. It appears that it was(is?) the personal residence of architect Carl Maston, built in 1947. It’s a fantastic mid-century example, and fans, be forewarned of extreme longing and envy ahead.
Scent Bed
There are three elements in the Scent bed: the light and low wooden base, from which a space for magazines has been built; the upholstered headboard, available in all the fabrics of the Porro sample collection, which colors and softens the formal rigour of the base; and the mattress, proposed in two alternatives, both attentive to the ergonomics of sleep. The double bed version of Scent is composed of two bases, and is can be used separately as single beds. Two finishes have been selected for the structure: whitened and perfumed cedar with subtle coloring and the warm tobacco color of Mongoy wood. The upholstered parts are available in all the fabrics and colors of the Porro sample collection.
Concrete Art
Concrete Art is a beautiful way to enhance any room with pretty much any design you can think of. Contrasting the cold austerity of concrete, these floral designs are a great way to enhance any room. This design concept allows for the application of any pattern to the surface, either when pouring or afterwards when the concrete has set.

Tree House

Whitney Sander’s Tree House for his sister.
“The design and building of Tree House was a labor of love. I designed this house for my sister, her first house. The death of our father allowed her the funds to build it.”
uehi! house

A house for a married couple who are Italian language instructors and their two children. The house had to have public space for lessons, film screenings and parties as well as private space for the family to relax. But the clients also wanted a feeling of “connection” between the two types of space. On the small lot, we created a salon and dining room with 4.7 metre ceilings, then arrayed smaller rooms around the two larger ones, and installed two spiral staircases to allow free movement between the rooms, all to create a sense of connection.
